From the Desk of the Director of Studies

Learning at Redfield College reflects the diverse nature of the teachers and students and complements the values that we share with parents. To the Board of Studies NSW curriculum is added Religious Education across all years as well as focussed subjects such as Philosophy and Study of Western Culture. For an overview of curriculum refer to the pages that follow, particularly Curriculum Flowchart and Redfield College Curriculum.

Our aim is to challenge each student to reach his full academic potential through effective classroom teaching and the development of internalised motivation and sound habits of responsibility, scholarship and respect for truth. We encourage the boys to contribute to society through the extensive community service program on offer.

We are proud of the tradition in the College of professionalism in the teaching staff and strong support from families on matters concerning learning. The boys know that they can find help when studies seem difficult or problems seem unsurmountable. A student's tutor is on hand to assist and guide.

Students of the College have achieved much in a relatively short number of years. The results speak for themselves and have been outstanding. HSC results may be reviewed in a section below. Also Annual Reports, a sub-section in About Redfield, contain further information on recent academic performance including an interesting graph demonstrating value added performance of our successive HSC cohorts against their own School Certificate marks in English and Mathematics two years prior. This graph demonstrates not only high performance at the top end, but also the superb best personal efforts of boys across the classes.
