Year 7-8 Parent Teacher Night

Last week, the Years 7 and 8 parents braved the icy-cold winds to meet with their sons’ teachers. Our parents are very committed at Redfield: the other week was the KPF, last Monday was the Elevate study skills session and then last night made the trifecta. It was a marathon effort for our teachers, with many of them were completely booked from 3:30 to 7:30pm. The parent attendance was much higher than last year, so the word has obviously got out that these functions are worthwhile. Many parents also brought their sons to face the music!

Leo Carol, our Technology teacher, made the effort to transport student work on bridges for parents to inspect and hopefully stress test! The longer timeslots of seven minutes (as opposed to five last year) were well received by parents, as they allowed extra time for details and transitioning. The buzzer was very audible and certainly let everyone know that it was time to move on to the next interview! Due to the high demand, we will split next term’s Parent-Teacher Nights for Years 9 and 10 over two separate dates. These functions with the teachers really complement the support from mentors.

Rock Night 2019

Well, what an experience for all the performers involved in Rock Night 2019. With the biggest stage and the best light show for Rock Night to date, audience members were treated to a night of high energy.
Preparation for Rock Night commenced on Wednesday night. As the stage, speakers and lighting truss was erected, the COLA gradually transformed from basketball courts to the Rock Night Arena.

Thursday night’s task was to run power to speakers and set the lights and to set the instruments. With the staging, lights, speakers and instruments in place, Redfield was filled with anticipation on Friday, resulting in a rush of ticket
sales. No one wanted to miss out on what is one of the performing arts highlights for the year. The year 12 students added some decorative touches to the COLA on Friday afternoon, and the transformation was complete.
All performers ought to be congratulated for the time and effort they put into rehearsals, refining their performances and performing out of their skin on the night.

Junior Primary Pilgrimage 2019

Last Friday (Week 4), the junior Primary boys attended a pilgrimage with our friends from Wollemi College. It was a deeply religious morning where both school travelled to Our Lady of the Assumption Chapel at Homebush to pray together.
This was followed by an afternoon of fun and games at Homebush Aquatic Centre.
All of our friends loved the pilgrimage and look forward to next year's one. Some of our friends also wrote recounts that they would like to share with you!
- Ruben and Bernard (Year 3)

“Ahhh!” Jacob and Yuvi shouted as they dived into the whirlpool after a morning of praying and thinking of Mary. The junior Primary boys had just come back from their important pilgrimage and were cooling off at the brilliant aquatic centre. The Year 2 boys couldn’t believe how exciting it was to watch their friends get sucked into the whirlpool and all had a good time.
- Jacob R and Lorenzo (Year 3)

SPLASH ! Years 2, 3 and 4 travelled by luxury bus to Homebush for their annual pilgrimage, which included a stop at the pool before we went home. A pilgrimage is when you travel to a holy place and it is different from an excursion. We were so excited to meet boys from the other Pared school, Wollemi College – they were just as respectful and prayerful as us. Both schools prayed and played together. Thank you to Mr Corke for organising this very special day for us.
- Yuvidhu and James (Year 3)

“Our Father, who art in heaven. hallowed be thy name!” could be heard from the bus as it took the younger Redfield boys on our pilgrimage. A pilgrimage is a holy trip to a place you can pray. It was quite special, as it was the first time our school and Wollemi joined together to pray the rosary at Homebush. After our big prayer, we went swimming at the Homebush Aquatic Centre. We had the most fun, especially when we went in the massive whirlpool and got drenched
by the gigantic water bucket, which kept tipping water on us.
