From the Headmaster
Our Years 7-9 students settle into examinations this week. One of our Year 8s has just told me he clocked up 10 hours on the weekend working through his study guides. What a terrific effort, definitely taking to heart Lao-Tzu’s maxim: “A scholar who cherishes the love of comfort is not fit to be deemed a scholar”.

End of Year Study Guide

During this Semester, 6M has worked on quite a few different concepts, ranging from Expositions, Weather, to Mental computation. English and Maths have been a focal point for learning in the classroom, where we have linked the programs to everyday aspects of life, whether this be through writing on current issues or how clouds are formed or even how to quickly workout the costing of everyday items. I take great pleasure in mentoring our class, as I find that 25 different personalities make for a great class rapport. 6M have a few pictures and stories to share, if you would like to find out more!

One of the concepts that have been worked on this year in English was Expositions, and at the end of the topic the students had the chance to show off their new found skills with a speech in front of the class.

We have some very bright students in 6M; in particular in the area of maths. Having an interclass challenge with the other classes is one way to build a community that is maths friendly.

In Science and Technology 6M have the opportunity to make weather reading instruments. This is a great way to get hands on with Mother Nature, and also bring out the mechanically gifted side of students.
