From the Headmaster
Our Years 7-9 students settle into examinations this week. One of our Year 8s has just told me he clocked up 10 hours on the weekend working through his study guides. What a terrific effort, definitely taking to heart Lao-Tzu’s maxim: “A scholar who cherishes the love of comfort is not fit to be deemed a scholar”.

SOME   OF   OUR   WORK  THIS   YEAR

 Seeing Through a Dog's Eye's
1.  At SEDA, a new dog is given a week to settle in before the lessons begin.
2.  The training can take up to a few weeks.
3. The new owner usually moves into SEDA for a few weeks so that the dog and the owner get to now each other and learn to work together.
4. Qui is an unusual word that means dog.
5. The ones that pass the test go on to SEDA for a further 6 to 8 months of traiing.
6. They must learn other commands too, such as sit, stay, forward nad many more.
7. Lets find out how SEDA chooses and trains these very special dogs

SMILING
Smiling is also god for your health.
Smiling may have begun millions of years ago.
Humans start smiling very early in life.
Babies usually start smiling when they are very young.
Humans are the only creatures that can actually smile.
Dogs and horses can be trained to show their teeth at certain times but it is not smiling.
Some parts of your face relax when you smile but other parts work hard.
If you keep smiling for too long some of these muscles start to tremble under the strain.

SHOES
Did you know that a human foot has more bones than any other part of the body?
Everytime you wiggle your foot, you're moving 28 bones, 19 muscles and 107 ligaments. whew!
When you were born your foot had no fully formed boens at all.
Now that you're 8 or older, you'll have a full count of 28 bones.
Most people find that the soles of their foot are much more sensitive when touched than the top of your foot. Tickle! Ha Ha
In ancient times, people made shoes from whatever was handy such as large leaves and bark.
Egypt is a hot part of Africa
Egyptions loved there thongs for the reason we do today.
