From the Headmaster
Our Years 7-9 students settle into examinations this week. One of our Year 8s has just told me he clocked up 10 hours on the weekend working through his study guides. What a terrific effort, definitely taking to heart Lao-Tzu’s maxim: “A scholar who cherishes the love of comfort is not fit to be deemed a scholar”.

Dear Parents,

If you are interested in undertaking your son’s musical development this year through the practical music program at Redfield College, please fill in the form below and return to the school no later than Thursday 7th February, as timetables for lessons need to be finalised.

This year, music lessons will be in a rotational format. A timetable detailing your son’s lesson times will be in his music diary. The time of lessons will also be stamped in the school diary at the beginning of term to assist you in encouraging the added awareness of music lessons.

Please be aware that the choice of your son to commence music lessons is an annual commitment. Each music teacher allocates time to Redfield College according to the number of students he teaches, and therefore relies on maintaining those students as a fundamental part of his employment. Of course, any extenuating situation will be accepted, and we will try to come to the best possible arrangement for all concerned in these circumstances.

Music instruments taught by professional musicians at school this year are: piano, trumpet, trombone, french horn, clarinet, saxophone, flute and percussion (guitar is also taught, but there is currently a waiting list).

For further information please phone me on 96510313

Should your son be interested in learning a musical instrument, I look forward to the combined commitments of our teachers and your family in attaining the best practical music education for him this year.
