From the Headmaster
Our Years 7-9 students settle into examinations this week. One of our Year 8s has just told me he clocked up 10 hours on the weekend working through his study guides. What a terrific effort, definitely taking to heart Lao-Tzu’s maxim: “A scholar who cherishes the love of comfort is not fit to be deemed a scholar”.

Secondary Music 2007

The music department has uncovered a wealth of talent in the secondary school in 2007. From the mandatory courses in year 7 and year 8, to the elective courses in years 9-12, young musicians have been showing their talents throughout the year. The mandatory courses have covered a number of different elements including compositions, performances on different instruments namely guitar and keyboard, and the study of various instruments including orchestral instruments and rock instruments. A design aspect has also been implemented into the course resulting in a number of acoustic guitars being made by the students.

New technology, in the form of computers and computer programs, have allowed for extra versatility in composition tasks in elective classes. Performance opportunities are also part of the course. Mid way through the year the music department held a concert for all year 12 music trial HSC performances. The night was beneficial to see the standard of performance of our HSC class. Other performance opportunities have come in the form of the year 12 concert day in farewell week and in class performances.
